Work suspended for two weeks. We're off to Nilai !

Feels so good to be taking a break. Home is bravo zulu and just cleared the last dregs of work this morning; it's now up to the suppliers to do their thing!

I am going to flatline and vegetate for the next 12 days. So, blessed Christmas to everyone and remember, be generous to everyone; give gifts to folks who can't give you any. God will bless you.

see ya!

Happy birthday, Linda. We love you. David thoroughly enjoyed keeping the 'surprise' a 'secret' from you!

Congratulations to Graeme and Lorna for adding Aasha Rebekah Armstrong to the clan!

Congratulations to Jeremy and Leonora for the addition of Summer Mikaela Yeo Shuxian to the male dominant Yeo family!

Finally, girls.

David should now learn to be gentle(r) cos girls don't play rough!(right?)

Happy Birthday Grandpa Wilfred Yeo Leng Chua. We love you. You gave us a scare last year and you're not as mobile as before, but we truly appreciate your many sacrifices to the family and love to us grand-kids. Let's face it, we're monkeys of the highest degree, but you were game enough to be part of our fun yet, able to get us in line.

My cousins would know him much better than i would ever have. They stayed with the Gramps's for a good portion of their childhood. We had moved to Kuching when i was about 3. Although, i probably did enough damage in Limbang for them to chase me to Kuching! (i.e. driving a car down hill at the age of 2, pinching granma's bum with a pair of pincers would be included in my resume...).

Our annual jaunts back to Limbang would always give us the time to know them a little better. An image which would always remain with me about grandpa is one of him - in his rubber boots, old weather beaten straw hat, a pair of shorts and an equally decrepit shirt - walking up and down the hill slope behind the house tending to his plants. He was at an age when my other classmates would tell of how their grandpa would be old, frail and basically, old! Little did i realise that my grandpa was old too but was and still is as fit as a limbang buffalo! He doesn't walk so well anymore but he's in a better state than any other old coot his age!

So, here's to you, Kong-Kong. A toast to your health; we salute your wisdom, love and purity of heart!

We love you.

Nothing exceptionally blog-worthy has happened in my life. Boo-hoo... not.

So i'll just show you guys the house. That's the living space, btw.

This is the dining area. That red bit? Used to be a window. Knocked it out and zapped on a piece of thick ply.

Oh, forgot the space behind the living area. It's the messiest part of the house coz it's the most lived in... by David!

The kitchen. Linda's pride and joy and where she experiments.

And lastly, a view from the kitchen all the way to the front!

RENOVATIONS COMPLETE! The house has now transformed and rolled out!
(my 'guy' room... the store. Linda reckons that i'm deluding myself... sad.)

Actually already done that a couple of months ago but i was too crap lazy to sign in to blog. Matter of fact, this whole rebuilding thing had really exhausted me. I'm just trying to find some time where Linda & meself could eff off somewhere and just VEGETATE as my old friend Vernon used to say when faced with stressful, idiotic situations.

So here's an update of what's happened since the last entry:

1. We had the housewarming for neighbours and family. It was fun. I think, it was also the first in the neighbourhood and they enjoyed it caused they stayed for more than a while! Got the food, the furniture but GUESS WHAT!?! us two smart-bums forgot the DRINKS!!! Eek! Dad and uncle Kwang solved that problem by driving off with RM120 from my wallet and a short visit to the local H&L super.

2. Our sister school colleagues came to town and we hosted the three ladies for dinner. Took them to the Junk and had a great time. We adjourned to the house for coffee and tea and more 'im'polite conversations!

(picture not taken at our place... interestingly, we didn't take any!) Meet you again, Lana, Robyn & Kaylene!

3. The guys and girls decided that since we didn't have an 'open' housewarming, they'd invite themselves to warm the place up for us! So sweet...

(Elissa, Frank & Calvin on a waaay too small couch!)

(Frank, Calvin & Mike) Hey, Carol! Thanks for letting me borrow these two shots from your Facebook album... albeit without me asking. thanks, you are sooo kind.

4. We added to the family a 4th member... no, Linda did not have a new baby. We finally brought over David's dog, Paffy... yes... i know... what kind of name is Paffy? Dunno-lah... you go ask David. He was adamant that it was a Paffy Dog.

5. And finally, David has developed this notion that because we have a semi-walled up backyard, it's okay to go FULL-ON Birthday suit for his version of 'indoor'-outdoor showers! Looks good actually, maybe next time i'll join him!

We had a wonderful weekend, this. Arnold, Cheryl and Theo Nathan flew over from Nilai. It was a blast. Theo and David had so much fun enjoying each other's company. Parting was really. really excruciating. They were oh so sad.

We did the croc farm, 'tambang' boat ride up the Sarawak River, had crabs at a restaurant (although this restaurant's food standards were not as high as they used to be... bad), enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Pinoy along Padungan Road, and watched the two monkeys play the whole day!

Here are some pictures to go along with the words above!

and David took this shot himself.

Goodness... Kuching's slowly becoming a 'wired' city. Even my neighbourhood 'kopitiam' (coffee shop) has free WiFi ! And, the uncle here makes one of the best coffee in Kuching. He's been in the trade since he was 15 years old.
